Question: My shrub had a disease this year and I don’t want it to happen again next year, what can I do to prevent it from spreading this fall?
Bernie Says: As soon as the leaves fall off your shrub (or tree), make sure to rake all of the leaves up and dispose of them so the infected leaves don’t sit there all winter and spread to the new foliage in the Spring.
Question- What should I do for my spruce trees to protect them from road salt this winter?
Bernie says- Wilt proof the trees as a first level of protection. Wilt proof can be purchased at our Garden Center. If it is possible, it is also ideal to set up a snow fence or burlap barrier to keep as much of the snow and salt off of the trees as possible. This is especially important if the trees are younger or newly planted.
